Wired LAN Connection: "Unidentified network", No Internet
Feb 19, 2016 · Hi, my network connection shows as Unidentified but with Internet access. See screenshot below: Also my connection drops frequently and have to reconnect it again. Ethernet shows unidentified network, but internet works. in Network and Sharing Various domain PCs and laptops appear to randomly give the connection name of "lewis.local 2(Unauthenticated)" - lewis.local being our domain - and provides an exclamation mark where the network type logo is normally shown. This also appears to happen every time connecting via vpn. Our setup is: 2 servers both running windows server 2003 R2 (x32) You got your own modem and router. So I'll assume you have connected to the cable and you appear connected to internet hook up, it has an ethernet cable out port, that then connects into the Wan port (The "in"), where it is then split into (usually) 4 ethernet ports, plus your wifi.
